ABOUT BETTY
Betty Goettee was my grandmama and the person Cafe Betty’s is dedicated to. I was lucky enough to have a little over three decades with her before she passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2022. Through everything, one thing never changed: her love for coffee.
When I was a baby, Betty would take me to Stanley’s Drug Store in Hampton, South Carolina, and sneak spoonfuls of her coffee into my mouth, despite my mom saying I wasn’t allowed to have any. As I got older, that little taste turned into a genuine obsession with coffee and eventually a fascination with making it really, really good.
What started as a love for coffee became a love for the craft behind it and for serving people well. Cafe Betty’s is my way of bringing those things together: honoring Betty, sharing the coffee I care so much about, and keeping her memory a part of what I do every day.

We're Kristen and Berkley - the two baristas behind Cafe Betty’s! Partners in life and in business, getting to build this together is so special.
We’ve called Florida home for several years and settled near Lutz after buying our house. We love it here, but one thing we noticed pretty quickly was the lack of a local coffee scene. Aside from a couple of Starbucks, there weren’t many places to grab a really good cup of coffee.
At some point, we had one of those wait… our coffee is actually really good moments. And that’s when the joke started: “What if we opened a coffee shop one day?” Somehow, that random comment in our kitchen has turned into something that’s actually happening and we’re still a little in disbelief.
We’re genuinely passionate about coffee and have spent countless hours testing, tasting, tweaking, and perfecting our recipes. We care about the little things, and we want every drink we serve to be more than just good. We want it to be reallyyy good.
But more than anything, we want Cafe Betty’s to be a place where people can connect. Coffee has always had a way of bringing people together, and we want to create a space that feels welcoming, familiar, and easy to call your own.
